Wave Transit names Marie Parker as new executive director

Parker is a seasoned transit manager and will begin her new role in early December.

Marie Parker has been named the new executive director of Wave Transit in Wilmington, N.C., following a special board meeting held Nov. 10 for the Cape Fear Public Transportation Board of Directors.  

Parker currently serves as the general manager of GoRaleigh where she rose through the ranks during her tenure. She started as a financial assistant before moving up to director of finance, director of operations and assistant general manager. She was named general manager in May 2016.

In a LinkedIn post, Parker wrote she was extremely excited to get started in her new post in Wilmington and expressed gratitude for the GoRaleigh team and the “lifetime of experience gained working alongside the talent that makes that system so great.”

Parker will begin at Wave Transit on Dec. 7.
