SALES AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTATIVE
(School/Public Transit and Recreational Vehicles Industry)

East and West coast based international leading manufacturer of safety systems for mobile applications has an immediate opening for a highly motivated, results-oriented Sales and Business Development Representative with experience in the School/Public Transit and Recreational Vehicles Industry. Representative will perform field promotional work to sell and develop new business; effectively and accurately communicate product attributes in an effort to generate sales; as well as identify key customer accounts and develop a strategic and tactical sales lobbying plan to bring proactive product awareness and system solutions to target customers. Candidate must possess a Bachelors degree in Technical or Business field and have 5+ years transportation industry related sales experience and knowledge in safety systems for mobile applications. Must be self-motivated and goal oriented. Must possess exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, phone and written skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and SalesLogix. MAS200 experience a plus. Must have existing relevant contact base, ability to maintain customers and develop new clientele. Laketran is seeking a highly motivated, innovative and experienced professional to join a dynamic transit team dedicated to maintaining our national reputation as one of the best small transit systems in the country, having twice within the last eight years been recognized – 2000 and 2005 – by APTA with the Outstanding Achievement Award.

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER/CONTROLLER
Salary Range $62,884 - $92,026

This executive partner will work directly with the General Manager, senior management, staff and Board of Trustees to develop financial strategies and policies to meet the challenges of today's public transit systems and provide the leadership to enhance Laketran's culture as good stewards of our taxpayers' resources.  As a working partner, this position will be responsible for planning, developing, organizing, directing and implementing the financial, grant-related and procurement activities of the organization.  These responsibilities include, but are not limited to: fiscal management and control, operating and capital budget preparation and development, preparation of monthly financial statements for presentation to the Board of Trustees, cash and grants management, investments, debt financing and complex financial analysis.

Job Requirements Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible finance, accounting and/or budgeting experience in a public transit system, government or a not-for-profit organization; including at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Professional certification/licenses: CPA/GFOA desirable. Master's degree in business, public administration or related field preferred.

For over a decade, Laketran has continuously received outstanding federal and state audits as well as the "Distinguished Budget Presentation Award" and the "Certificate of Achievement in Financial Reporting" for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report from the Government Finance Officers Association.  The successful candidate for this position will be expected to maintain Laketran's commitment to the highest standards of financial reporting.

TRANSIT AND PARATRANSIT OPERATIONS MANAGER
Salary Range $57,168 - $83,658

The successful candidate for this position will directly manage Laketran's daily operations of Dial-a-Ride, Local In-County Fixed Routes and Commuter Express operations to downtown Cleveland, supervising road supervisors/trainers, dispatchers, drivers, customer relations/paratransit scheduling supervisor and representatives. As a crucial member of Laketran's management team, this partner will work directly  with the Deputy General Manager, General Manager, senior management and Board of Trustees to develop operational strategies, performance standards and policies to assure the delivery of exceptional customer service and consistency in the business management of the operation.

Job Requirements Include: 

  • Bachelors Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform duties of the job.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible supervisory or managerial experience in a paratransit setting.
  • Proficiency in the use of computerized based paratransit dispatch and scheduling software, (Trapeze, Version 7) mobile data terminals and automated vehicle location, GPS systems, MS Windows XP and MS Office (Word, Excel, Access and Power Point).
  • Knowledge of public transportation issues.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of labor relations, including collaborative negotiations with unions, and handling grievances and arbitration.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to:

  • Manage activities to support innovative, high performance operations while emphasizing creative problem-solving, quality, productivity and goal attainment.
  • Develop and monitor the Operations department budget and work to ensure departmental expenditures remain within or under the approved budget.
  • Assist the Deputy General Manager in disaster management and evacuation plans.
  • Negotiate the settlement of grievances and other matters with union officials.
  • Apply the appropriate oral and written communications techniques to individuals ranging from employees to the general public, elected officials, community leaders, health and human service and other agencies, and the media.
  • Provide excellent leadership, decision making and team consensus-building skills.
  • Establish good working relationships with staff and senior management, Board of Trustees, elected officials, labor representatives, business and community groups, riders, and local, state and federal agencies.
  • Develop solutions to operational problems.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and meet performance deadlines.
