Senator John Kerry and Salem Mayor Kimberley Driscoll today announced that the city of Salem will receive $557,220 from the U.S. Department of Transportation to improve its commuter rail station.
The Obama administration on Monday called for a $50 billion investment in infrastructure and unveiled its principles for a surface transportation reauthorization, which include a new emphasis on high-speed rail and a recommendation to replace earmarks with performance-based funding.
