The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is proud to announce that Cheryl L. Hershey has been selected as the director of Civil Rights.

Hershey has a strong history at FTA, serving for eight years as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) team leader in the Office of Civil Rights and most recently as chief of Program Guidance in the Office of Program Management.

In her career as an attorney and manager, she has a proven track record of teamwork and success delivering results in the non-governmental sector and in government at the federal, state and local levels. She brings her commitment and passion for civil rights to all four critical program areas, including the ADA, DOT’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO).

We are all fortunate to have Hershey in this important public transportation role, as FTA works to ensure the civil rights that are so important to our nation.
