Transdev Names New Public Information Officer
Transdev, in service to the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority has announced Taslin Alfonzo, APR has been named as the new public information officer (PIO) for the organization. A native of New Orleans, Alfonzo comes to Transdev with more than 15 years of journalism and communications experience.
Most recently, Alfonzo served as the PIO and director of marketing and communications for West Jefferson Medical Center (WJMC), a proud partner of LCMC Health, from 2010-2017. In her role, she was responsible for overseeing and implementing external and internal communications for the hospital, as well as the coordination of all media relations and marketing initiatives. She worked tirelessly to champion the good works of WJMC’s physicians, nurses, and staff to the Jefferson Parish community and beyond.
Prior to joining WJMC, Alfonzo was an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist with more than a decade of experience as a TV news anchor/reporter for WDSU-TV (NBC) in New Orleans; KRIV-TV (FOX) in Houston, Texas; and KJTV-TV/KLCW-TV (FOX/Telemundo) in Lubbock, Texas.

Augustine III, vice president of Transdev, in service to the RTA. “In her position, she will be responsible for the development, management, and implementation of public information and community outreach activities that will cover a variety of key issues for the RTA and the residents it serves. Expanding our capacity and effectiveness for sharing information with the public is a priority for the RTA. We want to get information out there. It’s important for the public to know about the services and programs being provided on their behalf.”

Alfonzo received her master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City and her undergraduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta. She has been involved in a variety of community organizations. That lists includes the American Heart Association, Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, Café Hope, the Louisiana Hospital Association’s Society for Hospital and Public Relations and Marketing, Public Relations Association of Louisiana, Southern Public Relations Federation, Public Relations Society of America, West Jefferson Hospital Foundation, and LikeMinded Ladies.
