CCTA launches new strategic partnership with Heex Technologies to advance autonomous vehicle driving systems
Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) has launched a new strategic partnership with Heex Technologies to refine data processing capabilities for autonomous vehicle (AV) original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and mobility operators. The strategic alliance, which includes the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), will contribute significantly to the development of local and national safety standards and rulemaking for AVs through the gathering and sharing of vehicle data.
“CCTA’s innovation goals hinge on quality partnerships like the one we’re forging with Heex, said CCTA Executive Director Tim Haile. “The data management work offered by their team will help shape autonomous vehicle technology and policy locally and nationally. We’re proud to be taking this step forward with Heex, UC Berkeley and the FTA.”
Heex Technologies specializes in refining data processing for autonomous vehicle OEMs and mobility operators. A core aspect of the agreement is the deployment of Heex Technologies’ innovative Smart Data software solution. Engineered to manage, process and analyze high-volume data, the system will provide a comprehensive understanding of AV behavior and operational efficacy, supporting the development of enhanced safety and performance standards.
“The large amount of collected data in the Automated Driving Systems (ADS) demonstration projects can represent petabytes (one petabyte equates to the memory needed to store over 500,000 photos on your smartphone) and provide high-quality data to the FTA, academia and the public. CCTA staff and project partner UC Berkeley PATH have identified Heex’s platform as the best fit to provide the necessary data processing services the meet the project needs. Heex’s platform will effectively process and visualize the data collected from the programs operational scenarios to demonstrate vehicle safety.”
“This is a major milestone for us and a very good news for our development opportunities in the United States of America,” said Bruno Mendes Da Silva, Heex co-founder and CEO. “Heex Technologies is committed to the belief that Smart Data, as opposed to Big Data, is the most effective approach to harmonizing new technologies with sustainability. We are looking forward to working with many more transportation authorities like CCTA to enable the advent and deployment of AVs on public roads.”
