BYD Company Ltd., chose the 22nd edition of Intermodal South America – the International Exhibition for Logistics, Cargo Transport and International Trade, held in São Paulo, Brazil, from April 5th to 7th – to introduce its T3 pure electric green cargo van to South American markets.

This was the first time the company exhibited at Intermodal South America, and along with the debut of the T3 – in a cooperation with Correios, the Brazilian Postal Service Group – BYD also brought its pure electric pallet truck and counterbalanced forklift for the warehousing market, attracting scores of visitors and clients, and making it one of the most sought after booths at the exhibition. The first T3 electric van arrived in Brazil in February to start a three-month test trial with Correios, and more units are coming to comply with orders already placed by Brazilian companies.

The T3 is a medium-range pure-electric commercial vehicle based on a new MPV platform, especially built for the logistics market. This green cargo van uses zero fossil fuel, thus producing zero GHG emissions, additionally to consuming nearly zero energy when stopped in traffic. Heavy traffic jams pose no problem for the T3, as it can recharge its batteries through an energy regeneration system every time the driver steps off the accelerator pedal, in a new and more efficient driving style called one pedal driving. Equipped with BYD’s proprietary Iron-Phosphate battery, an electric motor with 160kW / 218cv maximum peak power, a maximum torque of 310Nm flowing through a fully automatic transmission with absolutely no power interruption, the T3 features an impressively nimble acceleration performance of 0-50 km/h in less than 5 seconds. It is mounted on a remarkable powertrain that pours unrivaled productivity at every stop and go cycle of city pick-up and delivery rounds.

Additionally, the BYD T3 Van is exempt of São Paulo City traffic circulation restriction, its overall silence makes it a perfect fit for night delivery operations, and its driving range of over 200km on a single charge makes it the longest in the country. With all these features, plus its stylish appearance, 3.5 cubic meter cargo space and 750 kg loading capacity, the T3 has immense market potential in South America, and especially in Brazil, where 75% of transportation depends on roads.

As for green warehousing products, BYD exhibited its 2.0 ton pure electric pallet truck, in its first appearance in the country; and following its successful debut at last year’s CeMAT exhibition, the BYD ECB 2.0 counterbalance forklift, which revolutionized the world market with its extreme longevity, efficiency and convenience, with the lowest operational cost on the market, as well as enhanced safety, productivity and user-friendliness. Just like the T3 and all of BYD’s NEVs, they rely on the company’s proprietary Iron-Phosphate battery and feature 2-ton capacity, 16-hour autonomy and 2-hour full battery charging time, additionally to being 100% maintenance free.

BYD’s successful introduction of its green logistics and warehousing products comes to add to the company’s existing pure electric buses and taxis that were put into commercial operation in Brazil last year, going a step further to offering an enlarged EV product range in the country, as well as solidifying the company’s contribution to Brazil’s Olympic year with substantial cuts in carbon emissions.
