The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has launched a new bike & ride facility at Grosvenor-Strathmore Station. The Bike & Ride facility will enhance and expand the first and last mile connectivity for customers at the station, making it easier to connect to the larger WMATA system.
Cyclists will be able to store their bikes at the station. The facility will provide a safe, secure location with room for up to 100 bikes and features video monitoring, emergency call boxes and repair stands equipped with tools and air pumps for an enhanced and safer customer experience.
To access the Bike & Ride facility, customers must have a registered SmarTrip card with WMATA. Then, customers can sign up for free, unlimited access to use WMATA operated Bike & Rides.
WMATA has seven additional stations with Bike & Ride facilities, including: College Park U of Md, East Falls Church, Herndon, Innovation Center, Vienna, Wiehle-Reston East and opening soon at Potomac Yard Station.
The Bike & Ride and other customer improvements at Grosvenor-Strathmore are part of an ongoing joint development project with Fivesquares JDA at Grosvenor WMATA, LLC (Fivesquares) to create a mixed-use neighborhood, including residential and commercial development at the station.
