VIA and Uber Announce Complete-Trip Partnership for Fiesta
VIA Metropolitan Transit and Uber have announced a new ridesharing partnership that enhances transportation options while celebrating Fiesta 2016. The collaboration enhances VIA’s special event service to the Battle of Flowers festivities, A Night in Old San Antonio, King William Fair, and Fiesta Flambeau Parade.
“VIA has been a part of the fabric of Fiesta for years, providing Special Event Service for festival participants. We are a proud, longstanding partner in this San Antonio tradition and today, we welcome our newest partnership with Uber,” said VIA’s President/CEO Jeffrey C. Arndt. “Our partnering with Uber provides riders new choices from start to finish and a safe option to celebrate responsibly. Together, we look forward to providing new transportation options for Fiesta 2016."
First-time Uber customers will get their first ride free (up to $20) when they use the Uber app to plan their trip to or from a participating VIA Park & Ride during Fiesta special event service, April 21-23. VIA’s special event fare is $2.50 each way with discounted fares available for children, seniors, students, and active-duty military in uniform or with a VIA Reduced Fare ID. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the Park & Ride locations for VIA’s special event fares.
“This is about more than free rides, this is about giving our community a safe and affordable way to get to and from Fiesta without having to get behind the wheel,” said Chris Nakutis, general manager for Uber Texas.
VIA will also offer the agency’s limited-edition 2016 Fiesta medals to special event service customers at the Madla Transit Center, the Crossroads Park & Ride, and the Blossom Park & Ride on Thursday, April 21, while supplies last.
