The agreement allows DART to increase the number of vans from 183 to 225.

An interlocal agreement with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) was approved by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) for the funding of a vanpool services program, which allows DART to expand the vanpool program to 225 vehicles.

Currently, the program has 183 vans in operation with 1,353 participants using vehicles that hold seven to 15 passengers.

The vans are used for trips that cannot be made using other DART services and is available anywhere in Dallas, Ellis, Collin, Hunt, Rockwall, Kaufman and Navarro counties.

NCTCOG’s federal funds would offset 35 percent of program costs while 60 percent would come from the users and 5 percent from DART in-kind services.
