IT Curves has partnered with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) to launch Rides to Health, a pilot project part of the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Mobility for All program.
The project's goal is to connect the dots in healthcare transportation as a multi-agency coordination project. Rides to Health provides a dedicated transportation service for dialysis patients by bringing patients, healthcare centers, transportation agencies and institutional funding sources together on a single platform. Patients can easily book rides to their appointments through the convenient app, web portal or call center.
The patient’s ride provider is aware of the set appointments at the dialysis center. IT Curves will monitor and communicate with the center staff with a clear vision of the expected patient arrivals and departures in real time. Participating transportation providers have tablets and software that help along shared-ride routes that effectively and efficiently bring patients to their appointments.
Billing moves seamlessly through the system to institutional funding sources, such as paratransit or insurance agencies, who can establish their funding eligibility limitations. Transportation providers can oblige to incorporate the audit features before accepting a bill. Drivers, as well as healthcare technicians, will have less re-booking and repeat appointment scheduling.
IT Curves and MWCOG aim to remove barriers between kidney disease patients and their lifesaving dialysis treatment.
“It is our intent to educate transportation human resource program providers on the importance of digital communications to help streamline transportation management,” said Sherri Mohebi, director of outreach, IT Curves.
IT Curves supports the transportation management for on-demand and scheduled transportation, including comingled paratransit in a microtransit curb-to-curb service.
