The city of Litchfield Park in Arizona will utilize the RideChoice program beginning July 1. The RideChoice program, operated by Valley Metro, utilizes rideshare transportation providers, including Uber, taxicabs and other wheelchair accessible vehicles as an efficient travel option.
“For our seniors and people with disabilities, RideChoice is an important lifeline to get them to medical appointments, pharmacies and grocery stores or maybe to visit family and friends,” said Thomas L. Schoaf, mayor of Litchfield Park. “We are very excited to offer this affordable transportation option to the residents who need it most.”
Eligible riders can take up to 20 trips per month, requesting a ride when they want to travel. The cost is $3 for each RideChoice trip up to eight miles, with additional service costing $2 per mile.
“We are very excited to provide a service for residents of Litchfield Park that is both economical and efficient,” said Jessica Mefford-Miller, Valley Metro CEO. “As cities across the valley have learned, RideChoice offers a solution for those that may be limited in their travel options.”
Other communities in the west Valley offering RideChoice for ADA paratransit certified people with disabilities include Avondale, Goodyear, Surprise, Tolleson and unincorporated Maricopa County, including Sun City and Sun City West.
