CTA partnering with Pace on VanGo pilot program
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is partnering with Pace on its new VanGo pilot program that will provide riders a new and affordable first/last mile transit option at the Rosemont Blue Line station for riders reaching the station via the CTA Blue Line or 11 Pace bus routes.
Later this summer, CTA will allocate two of its parking spaces at the Rosemont Park & Ride facility to support the VanGo pilot program – a reservation-based service that allows pre-registered participants to reserve a van to use at any time from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. the next business day.
“This pilot helps not only our Blue Line riders at Rosemont, but is also the latest example of the ongoing cooperation with service boards across Chicagoland,” said CTA President Dorval R. Carter, Jr. “At CTA, we are continuing to look for opportunities to increase public transit access for all and partnering with Pace will help make public transit a more attractive and affordable option for customers who need to go beyond our service boundaries.”
As part of the pilot program, transit users will have access to an affordable first/last mile transit option, within a designated geographic boundary, for commuters traveling to and from CTA’s Rosemont station. The service is $5 roundtrip.
“Rosemont Transit Center is one of the region’s busiest transit hubs where riders transition between the city, the suburbs and the airport,” said Pace Executive Director Melinda Metzger. “Adding VanGo as an option alongside robust Pace Bus and CTA Blue Line service will allow even more people to get to where they need to go. We’re grateful for yet another opportunity to work with our partners at CTA.”
The two parking spaces will be used solely for the two Pace-owned vehicles connected with Pace’s VanGo pilot program. The CTA will, at no charge, provide Pace two key cards (one for each vehicle) that gives customers access to the secured Rosemont Park & Ride lot.
The Rosemont Park & Ride is owned by the city of Chicago and maintained and operated by the CTA through an Operating and Maintenance Agreement with the city.
