British Columbia Ferry Services Appoints New Board Members
British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. has announced that Sarah A. Morgan-Silvester has been elected to the board of directors of British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. effective June 23, 2016.
Morgan-Silvester brings a wide range of skills to the board as a corporate director with business leadership experience at the senior executive and Board levels in the financial services, transportation and energy sectors. Morgan-Silvester is a former executive vice president, personal financial Services and Wealth Management for HSBC Bank Canada, and former President and CEO of HSBC Trust Company (Canada). Morgan-Silvester currently serves as a director of ENMAX Corporation, Canadian Western Bank and is a member of the partnership Board of Grant Thornton LLP and Grant Thornton Consulting.
Morgan-Silvester replaces outgoing board member Gordon R. Larkin, as his term as a board member has expired. On behalf of the Board of Directors of British Columbia Ferry Services Inc., Chair Donald P. Hayes welcomes Morgan-Silvester to her new role and thanks Director Larkin for his years of commitment and valuable service.
British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. also announced the re-election of Jane M. Bird and Brian G. Kenning to serve as directors of British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. for a further term.
Bird is a senior business advisor at Bennett Jones, a business law firm, where she provides advice on large infrastructure projects. Bird recently completed an engagement as an attaché to Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Development in London, UK, where she was responsible for the renewal of Canada House on Trafalgar Square. She is a former Chief Executive Officer of Columbia Power Corporation and Canada Line Rapid Transit Inc. Bird has served as a director of British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. since 2013.
Kenning is a former managing partner of Brookfield Asset Management. He also served as a director of the Brookfield asset management advisory board and was chair and managing partner of B.C. Pacific Capital Corporation. Kenning is currently a director of MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. Mr. Kenning has served as a director of British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. since 2008.
