A lobby group wants Winnipeg’s next city council to transform Winnipeg Transit with more funding, more frequent service and more safety measures.
Functional Transit Winnipeg (FTW) is calling on Winnipeg municipal election candidates to commit to achieve those goals, arguing growing cities should have sophisticated models of mass transportation.
Joseph Kornelsen, FTW’s president, said Winnipeg would need to spend about $100 million more per year on transit to match the per capita investment made by cities like Edmonton and Ottawa.
