The City of Joplin's Sunshine Lamp Trolley will hold a special promotion to recognize Earth Day and encourage the public to consider public transportation.
The Sunshine Lamp Trolley continues to be a popular means of transportation for those within the City. For those residents who may not have ridden the Trolley yet, the City is offering free rides all day Tuesday, April 22 in celebration of Earth Day. Last year, during this same promotion, the Sunshine Lamp Trolley provided 917 free rides, and organizers are hopeful that even more people will take advantage of this free opportunity this year! In line with last year’s promotion, no deviations will be scheduled on this date.
“We want to introduce the option of public transportation to our citizens,” said Robert Lolley, city of Joplin transportation coordinator. “It provides a convenient way to get around our city, and I hope people will take advantage of this free opportunity to ride Joplin’s transit system. After trying the service for a day, some may choose to leave their cars at home and use the Trolley instead.”
