The Central Arkansas Transit Authority (CATA) announced that Allie Freeman has been appointed as chairman of the board of directors at the monthly board of directors meeting in May.
He replaced Nicole Heaps who has led the Board since 2010. The CATA Board of Directors includes 12 members appointed by local elected officials.
Heaps, director of Maumelle Senior Services Center, has served as a CATA board member since 2005. “Serving as a CATA board member has been a great experience and I have enjoyed working with my colleagues toward providing central Arkansans with a great transit system.
Freeman, a Metropolitan High counselor, has been a CATA board member since 2007. “I’m honored and excited to serve as the CATA board chairman, stated Freeman. “I want to make sure I do my part to keep CATA moving in the right direction.”
“Nicole and Allie are great transit supporters and have played an intricate part in the progression of CATA. “We will greatly miss Nicole and we appreciate the leadership she has provided CATA,” stated Jarod Varner, CATA executive director. “Allie has been a great asset to the board of directors and I look forward to his leadership as the chairman.
