IN: CityBus Announces Hiring of New Controller
Martin Sennett, CityBus general manager announced the addition of John Metzinger as controller. Metzinger, with a 13-year career in the public transportation industry, assumed the position July 14.
Metzinger, who was the CityBus manager of development 2001-2012, comes to CityBus most recently from Danville Mass Transit where he was director for two years.
“The 11 years John spent with us prior to heading up the city of Danville’s transit system will help in the transition in his new position as controller,” Martin Sennett, general manager, said. “The controller position has an obvious important financial aspect, but also includes many of the planning and documentation requirements for all levels of government.”
“In Danville I gained experience in leading every facet of the transit authority,” Metzinger said. “A large part of my work there involved financial management including budgeting, revenue control, payroll, expense accounting, state and federal grants, capital procurements, and compliance. These functions in particular have prepared me to provide effective leadership for CityBus’ financial and planning personnel. I will be able to help advance CityBus’ mission to serve the community with innovation and quality service.”
As controller, Metzinger’s duties include all grant submissions, oversight of federal procurement, financial reporting to the Federal Transit Administration, accounting, revenue control and payroll.
Metzinger added, “I am most looking forward to rejoining CityBus’ leadership team, and working with many great people who are dedicated to service. I am also looking forward to coming back to my hometown of Lafayette-West Lafayette, a community I am passionate about. Last, but not least, I look forward to being closer and more connected to my family, especially my son John and partner Eric Van Cleave.”
“We are certainly thrilled to have John back at CityBus,” said Sennett.
