The promotion of Kelly Garman to director of government affairs was announced by Brad Diede, executive director of the American Council of Engineering Companies – California.
Garman has been responsible for managing the state legislative activities within the areas in which ACEC California operates. She is a registered lobbyist and will continue to strengthen ACEC California’s relationships with state lawmakers and policy organizations and provide counsel on political activities.
In her new role, Garman will also oversee ACEC California’s external public relations efforts, tying together the organization’s policy agenda and political objectives with the promotion of the engineering and land surveying profession.
In making this announcement, Diede said, “Kelly has a great knack for working with government officials, ACEC members, our coalition partners, and the general public. She has consistently delivered positive results for our organization and her skills uniquely position her to enhance our government affairs and public relations programs."
Garman joined ACEC California in 2013 as a Legislative Advocate. Prior to joining ACEC California, she served as Legislative Director to the Senate Minority Leader and had worked in the State Capitol for more than 10 years.
A graduate of Biola University, Garman holds a bachelor's degree in Social Science/Political Science.
