The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) has announced that Wade Cooper has been selected to serve on Capital Metro’s board of directors. Cooper will replace board member John Langmore, who completed his three-year term.
“Wade is an accomplished attorney and civic leader who brings a wealth of knowledge to the Capital Metro board,” said Capital Metro President/CEO Linda S. Watson. “His experience as a member of CAMPO’s Transit Working Group will make him a strong addition to the board.”
Cooper is currently the firmwide Managing Partner of Jackson Walker L.L.P. and is also the former chairman of the Downtown Austin Alliance (DAA), where he is currently a member of the DAA’s Advisory Board.
In his legal practice, Cooper has handled substantial commercial litigation, arbitration, and bankruptcy matters in Texas, and in federal and bankruptcy courts in a number of other states. His clients include telecommunications carriers, national banks and other financial institutions, equipment manufacturers, and technology companies.
Cooper attended Southern Methodist University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Economics, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, achieving summa cum laude in both. Cooper received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law, where he graduated with honors.
Langmore leaves the Capital Metro board after a four and a half year tenure that began in January 2010.
“We’ll miss John’s leadership and his expertise,” Watson said. “From the time he joined the board, John sought to leave Capital Metro and Austin in a better place. Looking back on his years, it’s safe to say he’s done just that.”

Cooper will be formally sworn in at Capital Metro’s Aug. 25 board meeting.
