The Macatawa Area Express (MAX) Transportation Authority continues to make its services more attractive to users by recently installing an additional three shelters at priority locations in its service area.
MAX received $25,000 in state funding to purchase and install new shelters on Century Lane by the OAR office, the James Street Ottawa County Building complex, and on State St. in Zeeland by Providence Healthcare. The shelters were completed last week.
The shelters were purchased and installed by Brasco International, Inc., of Madison Heights, Mich., which was the successful vendor in a competitive bidding process. The three shelters will cost $18,450, which includes the shelter and installation of the cement pad.
With the addition of the three new shelters, MAX now has shelters at 23 locations around the Holland and Zeeland area. In 2014, both Gentex Corp. and Central Wesleyan Church purchased and installed shelters near their locations to serve residents waiting for the bus.
