The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of New York awarded Wendel a 2015 Platinum Engineering Excellence Award for the Chatham Area Transit (CAT) Intermodal Station Design in the Transportation category. Wendel teamed with Cogdell & Mendrala Architects to design a transit facility that provides citizens and visitors with an iconic gateway to the architecturally historic Savannah and creates a foundation for growth of the city. The transfer center accommodates multiple modes of transit, including city and Greyhound service, Savannah’s popular trolley system, and bicycle and pedestrian traffic.
ACEC New York also awarded the CAT project with the Best Panel Award for 2015. This honor is given to the project that communicates engineering excellence through the creation of a graphic panel that is visually exciting, stimulating and representative of key design principles.
In addition, this project has received several other awards/honors:
