Becky Miller Named AzTA Executive Director
The Arizona Transit Association (AzTA) Board of Directors appointed Becky Miller as the association’s new executive director May 11 at the board’s monthly meeting. Katrina Heineking, president of AzTA, speaking after the meeting said, “We are extremely proud to promote Miller to the position of executive director. She has been with the association since 2005, and has been integral to the growth and influence of our organization. We are very excited about the future of AzTA under her leadership.”
Miller, during her time as executive management assistant, has had an active role in all facets of the association. One of her goals as executive director is to focus on an advocacy program that will include proactive communications, educational materials, focused legislative objectives and statewide forums. Miller stated, “I look forward to working with the AzTA Board, our members and partners to make sure that together we accomplish the goals of the transit industry.”
She is involved in numerous organizations, including Arizona Forward, American Public Transportation Association (APTA), Friends of Transit, SouthWest Transit Association (SWTA), Local First Arizona, Local Initiatives Support Corporation and many others. She has both a certificate in non-profit executive leadership and non-profit management from the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy & Non-Profit Innovation.
Miller replaces Jim Dickey, who served as executive director of AzTA for the past five years. “I greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with Jim. His leadership, dedication and knowledge of the industry have greatly benefited the Association, and he will be missed,” said Miller.
