Allison Korman Shelton Appointed to JTA Board of Directors

Allison “Ali” Korman Shelton has been appointed to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s (JTA) Board of Directors by Mayor Alvin Brown. Shelton will replace Ava L. Parker who has served since 2006.

A native of Jacksonville, Shelton is the vice president of governmental and public affairs for Stellar, an international mechanical, engineering and construction firm headquartered in Jacksonville. Shelton oversees the strategic government relations program, brand development, corporate social responsibility and public relations. Prior to joining Stellar in 2005, Shelton was the policy advisor for Florida Senate President Jim King. She also held positions as a cabinet aide to Florida's Commissioner of Education and worked for the Secretary of State of Florida. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Florida State University.

An active member of the Northeast Florida civic and philanthropic community, Shelton serves as the vice president of the Jewish Community Alliance and a member of the board of directors for the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, and Epping Forest Yacht Club. She has received numerous honors including being named one of the top "40 under 40" and a "Woman of Influence" by the Jacksonville Business Journal, Girl Scouts of Gateway Council Women of Distinction Award and the Esther Leah Ritz Emerging Young Leaders. She is a graduate of Leadership Jacksonville, Leadership Florida, and the Community Foundation’s Philanthropic Initiative program.

Ava Parker served on the board of directors for nine years in various positions, including secretary, treasurer, vice-chair and chair in 2009 and 2010. During her tenure as chair, the authority launched the first community shuttle and opened the new Beach Boulevard Bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway.
