Judith Andersen was recently appointed assistant vice president and John A. Nicholson, Jr., joined as senior project manager in the Pittsburgh office of Parsons Brinckerhoff.
In her new position, Andersen will manage Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Pittsburgh office, which provides infrastructure engineering and construction services in Western Pennsylvania. Some of the firm’s recent projects in the region include the reconstruction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike from Irwin to New Stanton for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC); the Liberty Tunnel rehabilitation for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT); and the Hot Metal Bridge rehabilitation for the Urban Redevelopment Authority.
Andersen has over 31 years of engineering experience, including marketing/business development, quality assurance, staff management, project management, and highway design for transportation engineering projects. Prior to joining Parsons Brinckerhoff, she was a senior project manager with a Pennsylvania engineering firm, responsible for a variety of projects undertaken on behalf of PennDOT, PTC, and other government agencies throughout the state.
Andersen received an M.B. A. and a B.S. in civil engineering technology from Point Park University. She is a licensed professional engineer in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Her professional affiliations include the American Society of Highway Engineers, Pittsburgh Section and WTS International.
In his new position, Nicholson will lead the firm’s multi-disciplinary teams working on transportation projects throughout Pennsylvania on behalf of such agencies as PennDOT and PTC. He will be responsible for supervising engineering design, construction support services, quality assurance/quality control, and business development activities in support of Parsons Brinckerhoff’s projects in Pennsylvania and the Northeast Region.
Nicholson has over 21 years of transportation industry experience with expertise in transportation construction and rehabilitation projects. Prior to joining Parsons Brinckerhoff, he was a senior engineering manager with a civil engineering consulting firm.
Nicholson received an M.B.A. from Point Park University, a B.S. in civil engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, and holds professional engineering licenses in several states. He is a member of the American Society of Highway Engineers, serving as a board member of the organization’s Pittsburgh section.
