City of Manor Mayor Rita G. Jonse will be sworn in as the newest member of the Capital Metro board of directors on June 22 at the agency’s monthly board meeting. Jonse was selected as the representative of the small cities that are part of Capital Metro’s service area.
“As Capital Metro continues its conversations with surrounding communities to further expand service, Mayor Jonse’s experience will be invaluable in shaping the future growth of the agency,” said Capital Metro President/CEO Linda S. Watson.
In May, Jonse, a lifelong resident of Manor, was re-elected mayor, serving her second term. Jonse also sits on the Manor Chamber of Commerce board and several Manor ISD committees.
"I am thrilled to be nominated to the board, and will use all of my energy to do a good job," said Mayor Jonse. “I feel being from Manor gives this part of Travis County some representation as to our transportation needs. Transportation plays a big part of the puzzle when one sees the traffic congestion every town experiences.”
Jonse succeeds board member Dave Siebold, whose term expired this month. Siebold had served on the board since 2013.
“Dave’s considerable experience in land use and transportation planning proved to be very beneficial to Capital Metro,” said Watson. “We’ll miss him, but we’re incredibly thankful for his dedication and expertise.”
