MTA Announces Fall Bus Service Changes

Aug. 18, 2015

As part of its ongoing efforts to refine bus schedules as summer transitions to fall and the new school year begins, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) on Aug. 18 announced several adjustments to existing Local Bus and Express Bus lines that will take effect Sunday, August 30.  The standard service changes also include modifying several bus stop locations throughout the Baltimore metro area effective Aug. 30.

New schedules will be available for the following existing 18 MTA Local Bus Lines:  #1, #3, #8, #10, #13, #14, #15, #18, #20, #21, #23, #26, #35, #36, #51, #52, #64 and #150.  To better distinguish MTA’s Express Bus Line from local routes, all route numbers with an “X” will be converted to 100-series routes.  These routes will retain all current destinations and stops under the new number series.  This fall, the 3X line will become the 103 line, which runs from Cromwell Bridge Road to the Baltimore Inner Harbor.   Additional Express Bus route number changes will be announced during future schedule adjustments.  MTA’s Express Bus routes provide customers with limited or nonstop service between destinations.

Highlighted service improvements include:

  • #36 & #150 - Adjusting schedule times to reflect actual travel times
  • #35 - Adding two westbound morning trips weekdays during the 9 a.m. hour to relieve overcrowding
  • #14 - Providing additional time for Light Rail riders to catch the bus at the Patapsco Light Rail Station on weekday mornings
