TransIT Community Relations Manager Wins Regional Award
Adrienne Moretz, community relations manager for TransIT Services of Frederick County was recently awarded the Community Outreach Award from the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition (GWRCCC). Moretz will be recognized during GWRCCC’s annual awards ceremony this October.
According to GWRCCC, the winner of the Community Outreach Award demonstrates outstanding leadership in the advancement of alternative fuels through community outreach, thereby creating opportunities for alternative fuels professionals to educate communities about the benefits of alternative fuels. Moretz attended over 60 community events and achieved over 12.1 million advertising impressions in FY2014. She created campaigns such as the Frederick County Commuter of the Year award and the marketing framework for TransIT’s mobile ticketing app, TransIT ezFare, all in effort to reduce single occupancy travel in Frederick County. Her combined efforts help Frederick County maintain a drive alone rate that is below the national average, a transit usage rate that is above the national average and a carpool/vanpool rate above the national average.
GWRCCC’s mission is to promote and assist in measurable improvements in regional reductions in use of petroleum based fuels through a strong coalition of effective partnerships; increase the use of alternative fuels, vehicles and infrastructure; promote economic opportunities in clean energy technologies; and, encourage academic focused research on increased utilization of transportation energy efficiency options.
