HART Achieves 2nd Consecutive Award for Financial Reporting
For the second consecutive year, the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) has been recognized for its outstanding accomplishments in financial accounting. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) recently awarded the transit agency with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, for its 2014 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). This award is the highest form of recognition for financial accounting, and HART officials are thrilled to accept it.
"We are honored to accept this award as it represents some of the agency's core values which include transparency and good stewardship," said HART Chief Financial Officer Jeff Seward. "Our finance team has worked diligently to develop a financial accounting system that is top notch and this award confirms that we are being good stewards of the public funding that we've been entrusted with."
The agency's CAFR for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2014 was reviewed by selected members of the GFOA professional staff and the Special Review Committee, to assure it met the program's high standards. These include going beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles and preparing comprehensive financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story.
"We are very proud to be the recipient of this distinguished award. This honor supports our objective of accountability to our customers and the community," explained HART Chief Executive Officer Katharine Eagan. "It reflects the agency's dedication and commitment to the highest standards and continued on-going legacy of prudent financial management."
The GFOA is a non-profit professional association servicing the needs of more than 17,500 government finance professionals, and has previously awarded HART the Certificate of Distinguished Budget Presentation in FY2015, FY2014 and in FY2013.
HART was recognized by GFOA for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the second year in a row.
