Tony Purdon Succeeds John Townsend to Lead Hatch Mott MacDonald in US West
Tony Purdon, executive vice president of Hatch Mott MacDonald, has been appointed managing director of the company’s West Unit, effective Oct. 1.
Nick DeNichilo, President and CEO of Hatch Mott MacDonald, said, “In more than a decade with HMM, Tony Purdon has made an immeasurable contribution to our success. I feel confident that the major initiatives we have undertaken in the West will be in good hands.”
Tony Purdon joined HMM in 2002 in Seattle, as project manager for an elevated section of Sound Transit’s first light rail transit segment. He went on to lead the design of the award-winning Sea-to-Sky Highway design-build-finance-operate project, which was a key commitment in securing the 2010 Winter Olympics for Vancouver and Whistler.
Purdon will fill the position previously held by John Townsend, who has announced his retirement from full-time service. Townsend joined HMM in 1995 as Resident Engineer for the Red Line extension in Los Angeles, and held a similar role on the multi-award-winning Arrowhead Tunnels project. He will continue to assist HMM with its growth initiatives throughout North America.
According to DeNichilo, “John’s leadership of the West Unit since 2001 has been a major factor behind its growth in size and reputation. His expertise will be invaluable to the company going forward.”
