Transdev Awarded Contract Extension in Antelope Valley
The Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA) Board of Directors awarded a two-year extension to its existing contract with Transdev on Aug. 25. Transdev provides fixed route bus and commuter bus services for 3.4 million passengers annually in Antelope Valley, located in the Los Angeles Basin. Transdev has proudly operated the AVTA transit system since 2006.
Transdev provides operations and maintenance services for the AVTA system, utilizing 76 vehicles and 184 employees to operate its 17 bus routes.
“We are committed to supporting our client’s initiatives to make the transit system even more attractive and environmentally friendly to riders. We applaud AVTA’s dedication to the community’s air quality through its plans to move toward a fully electric fleet. We thank AVTA for their trust and are honored to provide this service for the people of Antelope Valley,” says Ron Bushman, Transdev’s regional vice president and who is responsible for overseeing this contract.
Currently, the system has two 100 percent electric buses in its fleet, but will have twenty-nine within the next three years. AVTA will also start installing 11 “inductive charging” stations throughout the service area in the next two years. Transdev is proud to partner with AVTA and help realize their strong commitment to the environment and the community.
Bushman added, “Our relationship has always been characterized by the true spirit of partnership and trust with AVTA. We thank Executive Director Len Engel for his leadership and also acknowledge the ongoing support of the Transdev corporate and regional teams, which we greatly appreciate and value.”
