Sunshine Shuttle & Limousine to Headline Sandestin Gathering
With over 180 attendees expected, Sunshine Shuttle & Limousine is scheduled to headline this year’s Emerald Coast Transportation Symposium. Hosted by the West Florida Regional Planning Council (WFRPC), Northwest Florida Regional Transportation Planning Organization (NFRTPO) and the Bay, Gulf, Holmes, Washington Regional Partnership, the 2016 event takes place at the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, near Destin.
“This is an excellent, and very timely, opportunity to share information on how Sunshine is working with the community to change the car-culture of NW Florida,” said Owner John Finch. With new transportation programs rolling out in 2016, including Destin Harbor, Scenic 98, and Scenic Highway 30A, we can finally tell our visitors there are alternatives to driving a personal vehicle while on vacation. This is no longer a far off dream. The future is now.”
Mary Beth Washnock, senior planner for WFRPC, added, “We’re in our third year of hosting a symposium that we only dreamed would be this exciting. For this 3rd Annual Transportation Symposium, we not only have the current Florida Department of Transportation Secretary, Jim Boxold, we also have the previous secretary, Ananth Prasad, on one of our panels. Currently we have 180 registered for this event that will include several keynotes and 12 breakout panels covering topics such as Green Acceleration, Funding and Political Cooperation, Generations, and Local Inspirations to name a few.”
The symposium provides a forum for leadership in transportation by enhancing cross-organization collaboration, developing lasting local and regional partnerships, sharing best practices, and giving innovators a platform to inspire others. This year’s event will bring together professionals and policy-makers to openly discuss ways in which our transportation system can be updated to meet the 21st century economic and environmental realities.
