During the month of November, active duty military personnel and veterans can ride the Topeka Metro fixed route service free by showing the bus operator a veteran ID when boarding the bus. Valid ID’s include:
- Veteran’s Identification Card (VIC)
- Common Access Card (CAC)
- Uniformed Services ID Card
- Form DD-214
Service is available to all branches of the U.S. Military: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy.
“Topeka Metro salutes the men and women who have served or are currently serving our country. One day isn’t enough to show our gratitude which is why we celebrate veterans for the entire month of November” said Susan Duffy, Topeka Metro general manager. “This is our way of honoring and thanking them.”
Last November, Topeka Metro provided more than 6,000 rides to Topeka veterans. All Topeka Metro fixed route buses are ADA accessible.
