As a way to say “thank you” to the Miami Valley, the Greater Dayton RTA will be providing free rides on all of our buses Thanksgiving Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. These free rides are being offered in conjunction with RTA’s free transportation service to the annual Feast of Giving dinner.
The RTA is offering free rides to anyone to go anywhere along our regularly scheduled routes from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. No ticket is required: simply hop on a bus and let us do the driving to get you to your holiday plans. This service includes free transportation to Feast of Giving via our regularly-scheduled routes and through Project Mobility services.
“We’re doing our part as community partners to get people to and from the event,” said Director of Planning and Marketing Frank Ecklar. “Riding an RTA bus or scheduling Project Mobility transportation is the most convenient choice for many Dayton residents to get to and from the Feast of Giving,” he added.
While the Feast of Giving at the Dayton Convention Center is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., RTA is offering free rides throughout the RTA service area for an extended timeframe, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No ticket is required to ride RTA to the event, or to have dinner Thanksgiving Day as part of the Feast of Giving. Project Mobility rides must be scheduled no later than the day before and should be scheduled up to seven days in advance to take advantage of this free service.
According to the event organizers, the Feast of Giving is a free Thanksgiving dinner for people who would otherwise spend the holiday alone, are homeless, in need, or just want to celebrate the occasion and fellowship by attending.
“The Greater Dayton RTA is proud to be an important part of this event,” said Ecklar. “We know Dayton citizens look forward to it every year.”
