NFRMPO Elects New Chair and Vice Chair
The NFRMPO Council, comprised of 15 member governments in the North Front Range, has elected a new chair and vice chair for 2016. The chair is Gerry Horak, city of Fort Collins mayor pro tem and Kevin Ross, Town of Eaton Trustee, is Vice Chair.
Horak has resided in the Fort Collin’s northwest district for the past 39 years. He has been elected six times to represent the citizens in Fort Collins District 6, most recently in 2015. Horak was elected by the council as mayor tem in 2013 and again in 2015. He has focused on finding regional sustainable solutions to Northern Colorado issues through his work on the Larimer County Open Lands Advisory Board, Poudre Fire Authority, Platte River Power Authority, Denver Regional Air Quality Commission, I-25 Coalition, and the NOCO Highway 287 Corridor Coalition and has served on the NFRMPO Planning Council since its formation in the eighties and serving as its first chair. Also, Horak served as the council’s vice chair from 1993-1994 and returned to the Council in 2014 where he has served on the finance committee. Horak has over 30 years of business experience building successful enterprises. Currently, He serves as consultant and senior advisor to science and technology companies to grow their businesses and is participating in the shared economy as an Uber driver. He and his wife, Connie, have five grown children and five grandchildren. Horak enjoys riding his bike along the Fort Collins trail system especially the Poudre Trail.
Ross was born and raised in Eaton, Colorado. He was elected as a trustee to the Eaton Town Board in 2012 and recently announced his candidacy for mayor of Eaton. Kevin has served on the NFRMPO Planning Council since May of 2012 where he has been both vice chair and chair of the finance committee. Ross also was instrumental in organizing the new recreation district in Eaton, and serves on the new building committee of his local church.
Ross’ business experience includes serving as an American Family Insurance agent for more than twelve years and formerly as Financial Advisor with AXA Advisors/Equitable. Previously, he served as a coach of the high school football team in Eaton, chairman of the annual Hospice of Northern Colorado benefit through NAIFA, and chairman of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors Government Affairs Group for five years. He was also past president of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors local association and the state association. Ross also has served as the president of the Weld County Builders Association. He and his wife, Amy, have two daughters. When not shuttling his kids around to sporting events, Ross enjoys wake surfing and camping and fishing with his two daughters.
