After receiving extensive input from the Flagstaff community on the development of a Five-Year Transit Plan, the Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority has unveiled the draft plan to the public and gathering feedback before sending the final version to the Board of Directors.
The Five-Year Transit Plan process kicked off in January 2017, and after gathering public input in March and April, NAIPTA developed a draft transit network that could be sustainable with no additional funding.
In addition, NAIPTA worked with the project consultant Jarrett Walker and Associates (JWA) and key agency partners and stakeholders to develop a Permanent Transit Network. This feature is characterized by higher frequencies (buses come more often) and longer spans of service (buses run earlier and/or later). The idea is that a Permanent Transit Network is where transit is, and will always be and any new investments would be prioritized in these corridors.
