Lynx to Participate in FDOT Mobility Week
The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority has joined Florida Department of Transportation in its Mobility Week Oct. 28-Nov. 3.
The agency will host or support events throughout the week highlighting FDOT’s grassroots effort to promote awareness of safe and sustainable transportation choices.
On Thursday, Nov. 2 all rides will be fare-free for bus and NeighborLink services on Try Transit Day. This will be an unlimited opportunity for current and potential riders to try Lynx’ transportation options and save money on daily travel. Those interested in trying transit are encouraged to travel to LYNX Central Station (LCS) for food trucks from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Caro-Bama BBQ, Tamale Co. and Little Blue Donut Co. will have lunch available to purchase at the facility. Immediately following lunch FDOT will host their Quarterly Multimodal Workshop in the LCS Open Space 1:30-4 p.m.
The week will started on Monday, Oct. 30 with Lynx supporting the city of Kissimmee celebration including a Proterra electric bus at the Lynx Kissimmee Intermodal Station. The Proterra electric bus will be tested on LYMMO on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The company’s CEO will be in town during the pilot.
Wednesday, Nov. 1 will be highlighted by Osceola County Commissioner/Lynx Chair Viviana Janer hosting a takeover of the Lynx Instagram account. She will travel throughout Central Florida showing the community how easy it is to use public transportation by traveling on bus, rail and vanpool.
Ending the week on Friday, Nov. 3 LYNX employees will participate in the annual Mayor Dyer Bike to Work Day. A Lynx bus will be at Orlando Festival Park where the event begins demonstrating how to load bikes on a bus bike rack.
