Lehigh Carbon Community College To Receive LANTA’s Transit Partner Award Winner
Lehigh Carbon Community College will be awarded the second annual Lehigh Valley Transit Partner Award from Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority at the Authority’s July 10 Annual Meeting. The announcement was made by Owen P. O’Neil, LANTA Executive Director.
“The Lehigh Valley Transit Partner Award recognizes companies, institutions and individuals who make major efforts to facilitate and promote the use of public transit in the Lehigh Valley,” O’Neil said. “We are pleased to recognize LCCC for their partnership in making public transportation a dependable part of the educational experience for so many of their students,” he added. The LCCC and the Authority have a revenue agreement which provides increased service to the Schnecksville campus, in addition to the college’s proximity to the Allentown Transportation Center which also serves many students.
“This partnership has truly benefited LCCC students and employees by making transportation more affordable,” said college president Dr. Ann D. Bieber, who will accept the award on behalf of the college. “We are especially proud of how this program makes education even more accessible to our students who take the LANTA bus to class, to campus activities and to their jobs. LANTA serves both our main campus in Schnecksville, as well as our Donley Center in downtown Allentown with expanded service,” she added.
LANTA’s annual meeting and awards ceremony will be held at the Hotel Bethlehem. In addition to the Lehigh Valley Transit Partner Award LANTA will recognize recent retirees including: Arnaldo Chevere, John Cox, David Hadley, Todd Kenney, Linda Musikar and Juan Orta. Retiring board members are Freddy Lutz and Timothy Brady.
