Annually in August, TransIT Services of Frederick County partners with the Frederick County Public Libraries (FCPL) for their annual “Wandering Book” program. The program is a development of the Maryland Humanities Council’s One Maryland One Book program which encourages all Maryland residents to read the same book and bring together diverse people in communities across the state through the shared experience of reading the same book.
The One Maryland, One Book theme for 2018 is justice, leading to the selection of Bloodsworth: The True Story of the First Death Row Inmate Exonerated by DNA Evidence by Tim Junkin.
Books will be distributed to each of TransIT’s bus shelter locations throughout the County with posted clues on TransIT’s and FCPL’s social media pages. Each book includes an insert explaining the program and encourages passengers to take the book, read it and pass it to a friend, neighbor or fellow bus rider to continue the cycle. Clues and books will be distributed beginning Wednesday, August 15th.
