COTA Names Glenn Taylor Chief Sustainability Officer
The Central Ohio Transit Authority has announced that Glenn Taylor has been chosen as chief sustainability officer.
With more than 30 years of experience, Taylor has made building strong teams and engaging the communities he works with a priority. Prior to his time at COTA, Taylor served as Director of Security for Columbus City Schools and Executive Director of the Investigative Unit at the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Taylor also led security detail for the Mayor of Columbus for 15 years and served as a Columbus Police Officer.
As Chief Sustainability Officer, Taylor’s role will be multi-faceted, responsible for environmental stewardship, workforce development and promoting COTA’s sustainability objectives across the region. The position will oversee safety and security, something Taylor has previous experience with as COTA’s Director of Security since 2014. Other duties include leading the customer service team, serving as the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Officer and implementing a budget that will facilitate COTA’s sustainability goals.
“The Chief Sustainability Officer is crucial to COTA’s growing commitment to sustainability. Under Glenn’s leadership we are in great hands,” said Deputy Chief Executive Officer Emille Williams.
Taylor’s greatest strengths lie in his ability to take command of projects and propel them to greater levels of performance. His ability to exude confidence and be dependable as a leader within COTA with a proven track record set him apart from others in his field.
With the new, innovative leadership of President and CEO Joanna Pinkerton, Taylor is very excited for his new role, one that is entirely new.
“We want to look at all of our practices here at COTA to see if we’re doing what we say we are and are being sustainable for the future. I am looking forward to bringing all the divisions together and having accountability across the board. Whether that includes our people, the environment, financially speaking, or the community, we want to be accountable to all these areas,” said Taylor.
