Connect Transit has third highest ridership year in system history
Connect Transit, which serves the Bloomington-Normal, Ill. community, has shown an increase in ridership on its fixed route for 13 consecutive months. Connect Transit ended its fiscal year with 2,446,527 passenger trips a 9.2 percent increase, and 18,962 more passenger trips than it reported in fiscal year 2016. Since 2016, Connect Transit’s National Peers’ ridership has decreased on average 7.7 percent and Regional Peers’ ridership has decreased 11.61 percent.
Since FY08 Connect Transit has seen a cumulative increase of 75.92 percent in passenger trips.
“Frequency matters and frequency of service is freedom for customers as it better serves the customers that need and use Connect,” said General Manager Isaac Thorne. “Customers have responded to multiple Rider Surveys indicating frequency of service and on-time performance of service being the two most important items.”
Connect Transit has provided safe, reliable and affordable public transportation to the Bloomington-Normal community since 1972.
