Greyhound finds permanent home in Pinellas County thanks to PSTA partnership
Greyhound has found a new home in Pinellas Park, Fla., thanks to a partnership with Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA).
The new partnership comes after Greyhound closed its downtown St. Petersburg location. By working with PSTA, Greyhound can now provide riders with weekend service from St. Petersburg to Tampa.
The combined Greyhound PSTA terminal, located at 3801 70th Avenue North in Pinellas Park, opened to riders Sept. 23 with an official ribbon cutting ceremony.
“PSTA is proud to partner with Greyhound to give riders an improved opportunity to travel to popular destinations across Florida and the country,” said PSTA CEO Brad Miller. “By relocating Greyhound’s station to PSTA’s Pinellas Park center, passengers can also connect with multiple local bus routes at the very same stop. This will improve connectivity, giving residents and tourists alike more efficient ways to explore our region and beyond.”
Greyhound transported nearly 20,000 passengers last year at its St. Petersburg location on 9th Street North. But the pickup spot was not centrally located or well-marked. The new PSTA Greyhound terminal at the Shoppes at Park Place will be easier for passengers to spot. The new partnership will also generate new revenue for PSTA, as Greyhound leases the terminal.
“With this partnership, St. Petersburg will join our growing list of over 150 intermodal locations nationwide,” said Evan Burak, regional vice president, Greyhound. “We find partnerships like this to be very beneficial to the local community and we are eager to continue playing a role in improving access to transportation for the city of St. Petersburg.”
Greyhound will operate seven days a week, departing from PSTA’s Pinellas Park center at 8:20 a.m., 3:15 p.m., 4:40 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.
