DART hosts block party in honor of upcoming 40-year anniversary
Aug. 11, 2023
For 40 years, DART has served the North Texas community, providing a transportation system that efficiently, safely and cost-effectively handles 42.7 million passenger trips a year.
Aug. 13 marks the 40-year anniversary of the formation of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) in 1983.
To celebrate the day that North Texas voters approved DART as the main source of public transit to the community, DART is holding a series of block parties across its 13 Service Area cities over the next five months.
The first DART celebration will take place on Aug.12 at Dallas College North Lake Campus Station in Irving. The community event will have a focus on family, with back-to-school giveaways and programs, including food trucks and carnival games, as well as performances by the Irving Girls Cheerleaders Association, Irving High School Mariachi Band and DART’s 40th Anniversary Spoken Word Artist..
