Voith recently delivered to Red de Transporte de Pasajeros del Distrito Federal (RTP) 191 DIWA.5 transmissions in B7R Volvo buses. RTP acquired the first Volvo Artics with Voith DIWAs in 2009. By 2014 they increased their DIWA fleet with another 8 Artics and in 2015 another 5 Bi-Artics.
“Voith product and service concepts, as well as our quality, were the drivers in RTP’s selection of Voith,” said Sales Manager Antonio Piana. “Not only will RTP see fuel savings with our Auto Neutral Standstill and SensoTop shift program features, but CO2 emissions will be reduced too.”
Voith’s ANS feature interrupts the power flow between the engine and the transmission when the vehicle is stopped, reducing the amount of fuel consumed at idle. Voith SensoTop Shift Program allows the transmission to automatically adapt gear-shifting speeds based on acceleration, vehicle loads and the topography of the route.
RTP is a decentralized organization managed by the Mexico City Government who offers low fare bus services in popular neighborhoods of the city as well as in the peripheral areas. RTP is currently operating 94 different bus routes that is further integrated with the subway stations. On January 7th, 2000, RTP was created from the remains of the Ruta 100 public company. The initial fleet was 860 buses. In 2005 Metrobus BRT system is created and the first 30 artic buses were incorporated by RTP in Route 1 running through Insurgentes Av., the longest one in Mexico City.
