Joint investment of C$116,293 to help expand Queens County Transit fleet
A combined investment of C$116,293 ($US85,254) from the governments of Canada and Nova Scotia will help Queens County Transit expand its fleet by purchasing two new hybrid vehicles to provide on-demand transit services.
“Public transit brings incredible value to a community,"said Sean Fraser, Canada's minister of housing, infrastructure and communities."More vehicles mean that more people in Queens County will be able to get where they need to go. We will always be there to support projects that make lives easier for Canadians.”
The government of Canada is contributing C$93,034 (US$68,203) through the Rural Transit Solutions Fund while the government of Nova Scotia is contributing C$23,259 (US$17,051).
“Creating and expanding safe and reliable transportation options is something that is very important to me because I know how essential it is to the people of Queens County and communities across the province," said Kim Masland, Nova Scotia minister of public works and member of the legislative assembly for Queens, Nova Scotia. "Everyone deserves to be able to get where they need to go. It’s critical for medical appointments, work, play and all the daily activities that improve our quality of life. I’m proud we have been able to support Queens County Transit as they expand and help more people achieve independence.”
