ALHAMBRA, Calif., May 15 -- The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works issued the following news release:
Public Works upgraded part of its aging fleet of shuttle buses recently with 10 new, fuel-efficient and environmentally-friendly vehicles.
The $945,000 replacement project was funded by the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and Proposition A Local Return Funds.
The vehicles range in seating capacity from 8 to 20 passengers, serving County shuttle routes and dial-a-ride in the communities of Los Nietos, Willowbrook, Athens, Florence/Firestone, Rancho Dominguez, Rosewood, Walnut Park, Avocado Heights, Bassett, Charter Oak, Covina and West Covina Islands, Hacienda Heights, North Whittier, Rowland Heights, South San Gabriel, South Whittier, and Valinda. They will also provide transportation services to Edmund D. Edelman Children's Court and Martin Luther King Medical Center.
Wendy Bui, Transit Manager, said the new propane-powered buses will reduce vehicle emissions and improve fuel economy.
