The city's new mayor has vowed to start working on a new transit proposal, just days after voters rejected a $5.4 billion plan by a 2-1 margin.
As far as transportation ballot measures go, few have gone down in defeat as decisively as Nashville’s ambitious $5.4 billion transit expansion effort last week.
Voters disapproved of the “Let’s Move Nashville” proposal by a margin of 64 percent to 36 percent. The only areas in the city to actually support the idea were near downtown.
The defeat was especially startling because local transportation measures generally fare well at the ballot box.
