The T outfits trolleys for Racing When NASCAR Comes to Fort Worth
Sept. 11, 2014
Downtown circulator trolleys of the Fort Worth Transportation Authority get decked out in racing gear to help the city promote the opening of the Texas Motor Speedway each year.
The Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) outfitted two of its rubber-tired trolleys that circulate downtown with race car spoilers, racing logos, and decal photos of NASCAR drivers to help the city promote the opening of Texas Motor Speedway’s 2011 race season, April 7 – 9.
The “race-car” trolleys also were featured in photo opportunities at Mayor Mike Moncrief’s proclamation and news briefing to encourage residents and businesses to support the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series finals race -- the largest single-day sporting event in the state that draws 200,000 fans.
The T does its part to reduce traffic congestion by operating Victory Lane Express buses to and from the Speedway for both spring and summer NASCAR races. The mayor touted the Speedway’s estimated local economic impact of $75 million per race weekend.
