Ride IndyGo to This Year's Liar's Contest at the Indiana Sate Fair
IndyGo is proud to support the third annual Liar's Contest on Friday, Aug. 5 in Pioneer Village at this year's Indiana State Fair. The Liar's Contest is a collaboration between the Indiana State Fair and Storytelling Arts of Indiana.
All ages are invited to compete in a contest where tall tales and exaggerations are encouraged, and the more believable the lies, the better. There are two contestant groups: adults and youth 17 and younger. Seasoned judges will score all participants based on technique, story development, originality and effectiveness. First, second and third place tellers will walk away with ribbons and cash prizes.
"Finding the perfect venue for a liar's contest had always been a challenge, so when the opportunity to offer storytellers at Pioneer Village happened, all of the pieces fell into place perfectly," said Ellen Munds, executive director of Storytelling Arts of Indiana.
IndyGo continues to work with local arts, entertainment and community organizations to promote access to activities via public transit. The Indiana State Fairgrounds is conveniently located on two IndyGo Routes – Routes 4 and 39. Several routes intersect with the Monon Trail, another access point to the Fair.
"IndyGo is great for working commuters and attending attractions," said Bryan Luellen, IndyGo's event planner. "Folks often find it easier to use transit than struggle with parking and congestion."
While IndyGo is sponsoring the Liar's Contest, opening night of the Indiana State Fair, using transit throughout the duration, Aug. 5-21, is a viable option.
