Battelle's National Security Global Business (NSGB) is a leading solution provider for the United States Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security. However, a core part of Battelle's national security's business objectives is to expand its impact in commercial markets such as aerospace and transportation, as well as tools for banking and insurance industries.
To lead this expansion, Battelle recently promoted Lee Ann Schwope to vice president and manager of the National Security Commercial and International Markets. "With her engineering leadership experience and savvy understanding of how to apply technical innovations in the marketplace, Lee Ann is the right person to bring Battelle to new clients," said Steve Kelly, president of Battelle's NSGB. "Her creativity and energy have already greatly benefited our clients, and she has many more valuable ideas to pursue."
Since joining Battelle in 2010, Schwope grew Battelle's commercial armor business, expanding the reach within the United States and internationally. Now, the New York native oversees a new business development area with a growing sales staff.

Schwope is a past president of the Central Ohio Society of Women Engineers and has served on numerous national committees including scholarships and the Environmental Focus Interest Group. She also serves on the Ohio STEM Equity Pipeline committee and is an active mentor of Women in Engineering at The Ohio State University, Junior League of Columbus Ohio, Soroptimist of Franklin County and the OSU Franklin County Alumni Club. This past year Schwope joined WELD and has been an active volunteer supporting the website redesign.
